Essex County Council has admitted that they deliberately cause congestion on Broomfield Road through their control of the traffic lights. And now the Cabinet Member for Essex Highways (Conservative Tom Cunningham) is considering a  proposal to install a bus gate on Broomfield Road, stopping cars travelling the full length of the road. This would lead to longer journey times and more traffic in the streets running off Broomfield Road.

Say No to a Busgate on Broomfield Road

We call on Essex County Council to abandon proposals to install a Busgate on Broomfield Road and instead fix the traffic light phasing that causes the current congestion.
