Save our Pharmacies
Marie recently met Dipak, who's been running The Pillbox Pharmacy in Meadgate in Great Baddow since 1991. He told her about the frustrating situation many community pharmacists find themselves in. The price of our medicines has skyrocketed recently, but the price paid to pharmacies by the Government hasn't kept up. Our local pharmacists often have to buy the drugs they dispense for more than the Government reimburses them. This means they are having to operate at a loss and many simply can't afford to stay open. Clearly this ridiculous situation can't continue. Pharmacies are crucial to our health service and they are - quite literally - a lifeline for the patients they serve.
Marie was able to raise this issue with the Prime Minister this week - you can see her question here. You can add your name to Marie's petition calling for the government to take action on this below.
Save our pharmacies
We call on the Government to give pharmacies a fair contract that guarantees to cover the costs of the drugs our communities rely on.
