Broomfield Rd congestion - Conservative Essex County Council suggests banning cars

Essex County Council has admitted that they deliberately cause congestion on Broomfield Road through their control of the traffic lights near KEGS. Now the Cabinet Member for Essex Highways, Conservative Tom Cunningham, is considering a  proposal to install a bus gate on Broomfield Road, stopping cars travelling the full length of the road. This could lead to longer journey times with more traffic in  the streets running off it.

Lib Dem Councillors have been pressing Essex County Council on congestion and road safety for a long time. The Conservatives seem to be creating congestion to encourage drivers to use the Chelmer Valley route instead.

Do the Conservatives seriously believe that banning cars altogether on Broomfield Road is the way to deal with congestion? Say no by signing our petition www.cmld.org.uk/no-busgate
