Great Baddow Lib Dem councillor Maureen Miller has presented a petition to the county council asking for a new sub post office in the Meadgate area.

Cllr Miller said: "The petition has been put together on behalf of the residents of Meadgate to ask the council for a new sub post office to replace the two post offices serving the area which have been closed.

"Currently, local people have to travel to the Vineyards shopping precinct post office or to the ill-designed, main post office on the first floor of the W H Smith shop, in the centre of Chelmsford. Both of these options are inconvenient and a more local post office branch is required.

"I will be anxiously awaiting the response from the council. Given that the council has reopened post office branches elsewhere in the county, I hope that this will be next on the council's list."
