Mark Springett to carry Olympic torch through Chelmsford

It was announced today that Mark Springett (Lib Dem councillor for Moulsham Lodge) will be one of the Olympic torch bearers on its journey through Chelmsford. Mark was given the honour after being nominated for his work in the neighbourhood, particular his campaign for a new community centre.

Mark Springett commented, "I'm immensely privileged, as there are so many worthy Torch Bearers with so many amazing stories. This is such a great honour to be part of history and to be part of such a special moment in time. I will proudly be carrying the torch in the new City of Chelmsford on the 7th July, along with some truly inspirational people, it will be amazing and I can't wait."

On Saturday 7 July you, your friends and family can share in the magic and cheer Chelmsford's Inspirational Torchbearers as they join national nominees along the three mile stretch through Chelmsford city centre. The Torch Relay will start at 7am from Anglia Ruskin University and pass the following locations:

  • The iconic Marconi Factory on New Street
  • Chelmsford Cathedral
  • The High Street and Town Sign
  • Moulsham Street
  • Chelmsford Museum in Oaklands Park.
