About Peter Turner, Liberal Democrat prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Braintree:

Essex born and bred, Peter lives in Long Melford just across the border into Suffolk. Peter is a Director of an Ofsted rated "outstanding" fostering agency based in North Essex and he also works as an independent social worker. More recently he became director of a local football club and when time allows you will find him walking in the local countryside.

Peter has devoted much of his life to public service including over twenty years as a district and parish councillor in Black Notley.. He was also director of a pioneering adoption and fostering charity and managed the first local authority "adoption shop" and developed a range of services for disabled children and their families. He has also worked in London's former docks, gas and timber industries and for a film company.

Volunteering has also come naturally to Peter being an ex-school governor, advocate, Samaritan volunteer and trustee of local charities.

Gillian Collings Constituency Chair commented, "At a time when people are somewhat cynical of politicians it is good to work with someone with such integrity and life experience. Peter is a very principled individual and proud of his liberal values."

Peter has contested Braintree Constituency for the Liberal Democrats twice before and came a very respectable third.

Peter said, "A cross party approach to planning Health and Social Care is vital. Similar to Housing and Education key public services have become victims of political
dogma. We need to take an objective sensible long term view instead of political point scoring."
